Dropout Recovery as a Local
Economic Development Strategy,
September 8, 2006 from 11:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m EDT
Every nine seconds a student drops out of school. One-third of American students become high school dropouts. Only half of all African American, Latino, and American Indian students ever graduate. The dropout problem is a national crisis.
Join us to learn about city and county-wide efforts to reconnect out-of-school youth to education and employment training. The presentation will feature an overview of local efforts across the country and a panel of two local leaders engaged in dropout recovery in their communities.
PRESENTERS:
- Andrew O. Moore, Senior Consultant, National League of Cities
- Deborah Feldman, Administrator, Montgomery County, OH
- Karen Sitnick, Director, Mayor’s Office of Employment Development, Baltimore, MD
